Fascial Manipulation Therapy
An evidence lead treatment for effective pain relief
Fascial (pronounced fah-sha) manipulation is a manual treatment designed to help your muscular balance while reducing pain and stiffness.
Before we go further, let’s quickly answer the question of “what is Fascia?” Or to be more specific, “what is your fascial system?”.
Put simply, fascia, originating from latin, means “band”. Fascia is known as a band or sheet of tissue beneath your skin which connects, stabilises, encloses and separates your muscles and internal organs. It’s the reason everything on your insides stay in place and connected to where they’re meant to be.
When talking about Facial manipulation, we’re looking to work on what is known as your “Deep Fascia”. Your Deep Fascia is the fibrous tissue that merges and surrounds your muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels.
How does Fascial Manipulation work?
Fascia was first discovered in the 19th century by the founder of Osteopathy – Dr. Andrew Taylor Still
Since then, our understanding of Fascia and the role it plays in keeping our bodies healthy and mobile has grown.
Fascial Manipulation works through friction and how the Fascia responds to it. Our therapists use a combination of manual techniques that directly work the Fascia to increase the temperature of the tissue and reduce inflammation in the area. These techniques lead to patients experiencing a reduction in stiffness, pain and an improvement in their coordination.

You’ve done such a good job sorting out my sciatica that I’ve almost forgotten the pain I was in earlier on in the year when I hobbled in. I started to feel huge improvements immediately and I’m so grateful to be feeling back to normal.
